MagnaAmpÂŪ is a sealed, glass ampoule containing a prepared media of SoybeanCasein Digest Broth and Bromocresol Purple pH indicator which is inoculated with sterilization-resistant spores. The ampoule is designed to sink in aqueous solutions. The shape also allows the ampoule to be suspended in the location of the liquid that is most difficult to sterilize. The flat bottom of the ampoule also allows the ampoule to be set next to a container of liquid if the container is the same size as the MagnaAmp ampoule and the liquid is a similar viscosity. When the ampoule is incubated at the appropriate temperature, the organism will grow. The physical characteristic showing growth is a color change from purple to or toward yellow and/or turbidity.
